This movie starts out with a similar premise as other zombie movies but takes some interesting twists and turns that makes this ride much more thrilling. The Crazies starts in the usual sleepy town where America's pastime is keeping folks busy.
Fortunately, these zombies aren't your usual mindless walking corpse types, no these guys are more interesting. While the rules on exactly what the zombies can and cannot do are loose, that's ok, it's a freaking zombie movie. One of the elements that I particularly enjoyed was trying to figure out who had turned and who hadn't, and this time it isn't as simple as a bite. I will say though for those faint of heart, this movie may not be for you, it's pretty gory.
The story in the movie is entertaining, nothing really shocking or surprising but a good mix of different zombie movie elements were included. There are the predictable scenes where characters get saved at the very last minute and some characters that you can tell will quickly die but the way some of the things happen are enough to jolt your interest.
This was a fun, thrilling, and sometimes shocking zombie flick. It isn't going to win awards but if you're in the mood for a different kind of zombie movie you certainly can't go wrong with The Crazies.
