The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

At first glance this would appear to be a very odd film, it is.  With that said once I started the movie I quickly found myself engrossed in it's story.

It's a story about a man's deal with the Devil, quite literally.  Doctor Parnassus and his "family" travel through the streets of a run down London as well as the mystical and often gorgeous imaginations of themselves and others.  This contrast really does a magnificent job of demonstrating the differences in real life versus the imagination. Additionally, I am not one sold purely on "eye-candy" but the way this film meshes the different visual elements that will wow just about anyone.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus stars Heath Ledger in his final film.  Ledger passed away during the filming and was replaced by the trio of Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell.  The transition of the actors was seamless and handled to perfection.  The supporting roles in this film are also very well cast and acted.

While movie is not my favorite of all-time, I certainly enjoyed it and would recommend it for anyone looking for a fun movie to make you smile.
